The bumbaibhukkad Burger
Ingredients:
1 Burger Bun
Two 1/2 inch Meat Burger Patties or one 1 inch Patty
3-4 rashes of Bacon
1 Slice Cheese
2 Medium Onions
Mustard Sauce
Sweet Chilli Sauce
Iceberg Lettuce
1/2 Tsp Salt
Oil for frying
Oil for deep frying
1 Cup Potato Fries, ready to fry
Method:
In a steel pan (preferably), heat 3-4 Tbsp of Oil on low-medium and add the onions. Spread them in the pan to cook evenly
In 4-5 minutes, sprinkle salt to increase the heat and let the onions sweat
Don’t stir till they start to brown on one side, which should take about 10 minutes. After stirring, add a sprinkling of water to the pan, then cover and let them cook for another 10 minutes
Keep cooking this way until caramelized. Take them out of the pan
In the meantime, cut the bun in half along the circumference and lightly toast on a grill pan for 2 minutes on medium heat. Keep aside
Fry the burger patty, which takes about 2-3 minutes per side on low-medium heat. Flip the patty, place the cheese slice over the top and cover the pan for the remaining 2 minutes. This will allow your cheese to melt over the patty
Once done, take out and place over the lower bun
Drizzle mustard and sweet chilly sauce over the cheese
Place a layer of caramelized onions over
Fry the bacon on both sides and then take it out onto a plate. Don’t add it directly from the pan, as it needs to crisp up
Place the bacon on the caramelized onions, with the lettuce over. Close it with the top half of the bun and use long skewer/toothpick, to hold it in place
When starting to fry the patties, start heating oil for deep frying in another pan on medium-high
Deep fry the fries for a couple of minutes till crisp and slightly golden brown
Take them out of the pan and you’re all set to serve with the burger!
