Lupini Beans (Tormos)✨

One of my favourite summer time snack, lupini beans – also known as “tormos” in Lebanon & a popular street food in the Middle East – can be found ready to eat in jars soaked in water and salt or as dried beans you soak in water yourself.

When I saw beautyyandthefeastt post them on her page instant cravings kicked in. Here’s how I made them⬇️

•1 cup dried lupini beans
•lemon juice & lemon slices
•salt
•cumin
•water as needed

Method:
▫️Soak 1 cup lupini beans in 4 cups cold water overnight. The next day, drain the water and add the beans to a pot of boiling salted water. Boil for 1 hour. After they have cooled, rinse and place them back in a bowl with cold water.
Keep draining and adding fresh water once or twice a day (morning/evening) until the bitterness disappears usually 3-5 days.
▫️To serve: drain the water, sprinkle with salt, lots of lemon juice, lemon slices and cumin (don’t skip the cumin!😋)
▫️To eat them: discard the skin and eat the bean only.
