We made these donuts right after the first covid lockdown was announced over a year ago. It was nice having my husband make a rare appearance in the kitchen. After giving him a tour of the kitchen we started on these delicious homemade donuts..recipe below ⤵️
•2 cups all purpose flour
•3/4 cup warm milk
•1 1/2 tsp yeast
•4 tbsp butter, melted
•3 tbsp granulated sugar
•1 1/2 tsp yeast
•1/2 tsp baking powder
•1/2 tsp vanilla extract
•1/4 tsp salt
?Cinnamon sugar: 6 tbsp sugar & 1 tsp cinnamon mix together
?Chocolate dip: 3 cups icing sugar, 8 tbsp cocoa powder, 4 tbsp milk, 2 tsp vanilla extract. Sift icing sugar & cocoa powder. Add vanilla & milk, mix all together.

Method:
▫️Warm 1/2 cup milk. Stir in yeast and 1 tbsp sugar. Cover the bowl and set aside for 5-10 minutes.
▫️In a large bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt and remaining 2 tbsp sugar. Add the melted butter, vanilla extract & yeast mixture. Mix all together then pour in remaining 1/4 cup milk. Knead for a few minutes until you have a soft dough. Cover and let the dough rise for an hour.
▫️Roll your dough out on a floured surface to about 1/2” thick. We used a round cutter and a bottle cap to cut out the centre of the donuts.
▫️Place cut out donuts on a tray, cover and let them rise for 30 minutes.
▫️Fry the donuts on med/high for about 1 minute on each side until they turn a brown colour. Dip the donuts in whatever toppings you like.
